Dog years, dog days, dog minutes and seconds. I made a dog clock today?I call it “Dog time”it is for Barktober fest, a benefit for our local Humane Society.

Hey a dog clock? You might ask what motivated me to make a dog clock? As a business owner and an artist I get asked to donate to all kinds of events. And yes you can ask too, but just be aware at this point there’s no way we can accommodate all of the request. But we will do what we can, and generally we donate something to about 6 to 8 events a year.  It’s all about giving back to the community and trying to help make the world a better place.  So please let me encourage you to do what you can too! Do it ! It feels good to help!

It’s about dog gone time!

A Stainless steel jaguar is born!

When West Florida Tech High school asked me to bring design a mascot for them I knew right away stainless steel would be the way to go.  It is a technology high school and nothing says technology like stainless.   I began by studying the  Jaguar, did you know the bones of a house cat have the exact same structure as all wild cats?  I find cats to be fascinating and beautiful creatures. With long slinky bodies and graceful movements they are simply elegant.  But elegance is not the main quantity you need in a mascot,  you need strength and power, fortunately the Jaguar has these qualities as well.  Now armed with these goals I do a few sketches till I am satisfied with the look.  The next step is to scan the drawing and import it into Auto cad.  I then broke down the components and illustrated it in 3-D.
The folks at the School loved it! After a bit if fund raising we were ready to go.  I started by water jet cutting and shearing all of the components. Then forming and welding , the mouth was the trickiest part. But soon a Jaguar was born!  It was a great project and I feel honored to be able to create something that will give the school a great sense of identity for years to come …

Metal fabrication is an interesting business.

You would not believe the crazy things we build here Renaissance Man Inc. custom metal fabrication shop.  We never know what kind of business is gonna walk into the door. It seems like everyone is wanting  something strange made out of metal. For example I built the replica of a triple barrel chinese pole cannon. ( and yes it did shoot).I have built metal dogs, frogs and fish.  Things to convert french fry grease to fuel and to toast bread with the sun.
These kinds of projects definitely keep things interesting around here. I can’t wait to see what will come through the door next!

Kevin Marchetti/Renaissance Man Inc Receives a Sculpture Commission from The City of Gulf Breeze Florida

I am very pleased to announce.Kevin Marchetti and Renaissance Man Inc. recently received a commission from the city of Gulf Breeze Florida to build a sixteen foot plus tall Abstract sculpture. The sculpture will be fabricated from 1/2″ Aluminum plate then anodized to protect it from the salt air. It will be placed at the foot of the Pensacola Bay Bridge know locally as the “Three Mile Bridge” on the east side of the road in the grassy area on the south end of Wayside Park. It will have a concrete stair stepped pedestal and will be lit with a multi colored lighting array to make it a pleasure to the eyes at night.
This will be the first sculpture of its kind for the city. The City plans to commission four more sculptures to other local Artist to high light the Arts in the area and add interest to the City as a whole. I am very pleased and honored to have received the the first of these commissions. I might mention that these commissions and funded through the generous donations of private individuals.
Now for my public service anouncement:Adding art to the community is great thing to do on many levels, number one it last longer than a fireworks display, it helps to boost tourism, which in turn brings in money to the local economy. It sparks the creative spirit in the community. So I encourage you to support the Arts, create art and be a Renaissance person!!!
